Places & Times to Join Us!
What to Expect:
Sunday Morning
Age-wise, we are diverse. Our staff includes older
& younger pastors, which reflects the make-up of the church at both campuses.
Sunday morning attendance is between 300-500 people at the East Campus, &
1,700-2,200 at the West Campus. Dress trends toward business-casual, though
you can find anything from khakis to gray suits, dresses to jeans, etc. My
philosophy of dress is “clean & modest.” Our people are friendly (I hope!),
but with more than 100 visitors each week, you may need to be bold & introduce
yourself. I would certainly love to meet you. Check out the worship times
listed to the sides for each campus. If you go to our Calendar, you can find
the classes meeting & brief information of each.
The music we sing at Temple is a blend of old & new. Most of our music is choir-driven. But you will find band-driven worship in our student ministries & occasionally on Sunday nights.
Preaching at TBC is expositional, meaning that it seeks to declare
the point of a particular biblical passage. We normally go right through books of the Bible, but sometimes we cover themes within the text. Sermons usually last between 30-45 minutes & are packed with material for reflection & further study. We give a handout every week so that everyone can be equipped to re-teach the information & further engage God through His Word. All of our preaching is gospel-centered, meaning that we believe that God’s redemption in Christ is central in the Scriptures & should therefore be woven through every sermon regardless of the selected text.
Following the sermon, we sing a few songs in order to give believers time to reflect on the message & give unbelievers an opportunity to respond in repentance & faith in Christ. A typical service is about 1½ hours.
Sunday Evening
Our Sunday evening times combine singing, baptizing, teaching & prayer. Both campuses come together at 6p (at West) to meet with God & fellowship with one another. I generally cover material that is doctrinally rich or challenging on Sunday evenings, often taking a book of the Bible to study or selected doctrines.
Wednesday Evening
On Wednesday evenings, we gather for a prayer experience at both campuses, beginning at 6 pm. We pray for all of the ministries at the church, the needs of individuals, the nations, and other pastoral concerns. In addition, we sing together and study the Scriptures in an abbreviated Bible study. Wednesday night is much smaller than the other services, but many find it critically important, as a time to re-fuel during the middle of the week. I believe it to be critical that one night of the week be given to sacrificial, intercessory prayer.
I hope you can come and visit us at one of our services.
In Christ,
