Summary: This volunteer position involves assisting in meal preparation, serving, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
Food Service:
- Ensure food safety and hygiene practices are followed at all times.
- Help serve meals to guests with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
- Assist with portion control to ensure an equitable distribution of food.
Cleanliness and Organization:
- Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen area throughout the evening.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and cookware as needed.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment and tools are properly cleaned, stored, and organized.
Teamwork:
- Collaborate with other volunteers, including the Head Chef or Kitchen Coordinator, to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively with fellow volunteers to coordinate tasks and responsibilities.
Guest Interaction:
- Engage with guests in a respectful and friendly manner, promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Provide information about the meal or direct guests to appropriate resources if necessary.
Qualifications:
- Passion for helping others and a commitment to the mission of the church.
- Willingness to work as part of a team and follow instructions from the kitchen coordinator.
- Basic kitchen skills or a desire to learn, with an emphasis on food safety and hygiene.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy objects.
- Respect for diversity and the ability to interact with a wide range of individuals.
