Ministry: Student Ministry (6th-12th graders)

Temple Baptist Church believes in equipping our students with the tools and knowledge they need to deepen their relationship with Christ. Our Student Ministry is a vital part of our church family, and we are dedicated to helping our students grow in Christlikeness.

Position Overview: The Student Ministry Discipleship Group Leader plays a crucial role in guiding and mentoring our 6th-12th graders as they embark on their journey of faith. This volunteer position involves leading same-gender discipleship groups that meet weekly to foster spiritual growth and encourage deeper connections with Christ and fellow group members.

Responsibilities:

Spiritual Leadership: Lead by example, demonstrating a personal commitment to Christ and modeling a Christlike character.

Group Facilitation: Lead a weekly same-gender discipleship group for students, creating an environment where open discussions, spiritual growth, and mutual support can thrive.

Prayer: Foster a culture of prayer within the group, encouraging students to share their prayer requests and pray for one another.

Accountability: Help students set and achieve spiritual goals, holding them accountable in love and grace.

Relationship Building: Build strong, trusting relationships with group members, providing a safe space for them to share their thoughts and concerns.

Communication: Keep parents and guardians informed about group activities and provide periodic updates on their child's spiritual progress.

Flexibility: Be open to meeting at different times and locations based on the needs and preferences of the group members.

Training and Development: Attend training sessions and meetings with the Student Ministry leadership team for ongoing spiritual and leadership development.

Qualifications:

  • A mature and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • A commitment to the spiritual growth of young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A heart for mentoring and discipleship.
  • Willingness to undergo a background check (if required by the church).

Time Commitment:

  • Weekly meetings on Sundays from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Temple Baptist church (or at a time and place agreed upon by the group).
  • Additional time for preparation, communication, and occasional special events or retreats.

Note: As a ministry team, we are prayerfully putting together discipleship groups to ensure that both leaders and students have the opportunity to grow in Christlikeness together. We believe that this commitment to spiritual growth is essential in fulfilling our mission.
