Decision Counselor

Outreach and Next Steps Team

 Decision counselors work with the Pastor of Outreach and Next Steps in the counseling of individuals and families during the invitation time of the Sunday morning services. Decision counselors are important in helping individuals take their next step, whether it be salvation, baptism, membership, or any other reason they may have come forward.

Mission of Temple:

Equipping Every Generation to Leverage Their Influence and Lead Others to Christ. Therefore, we want to equip decision counselors to leverage their influence and lead others to Christ.

Commitment:

Serve at least every other Sunday at either the 9:00 or 10:30 service

During Invitation: 

1. Be visible on front row: Make sure to wear your red lanyard so staff can identify you. If not already there, make your way to the front row while preaching pastor is praying.

2. Be in prayer: Pray for God’s Spirit to move during the invitation time.

3. Watch for signal: The signal may be eye contact or a hand gesture. Be alert and if you’re in doubt, go ahead and make your way to the

4. Introduce yourself: Greet the individual or family and make them feel comfortable by introducing yourself.

5. Escort the individual: After you introduce yourself, exit the worship center and head to the green room. Explain to them that it is more comfortable and quieter.

6. Fill out form: The form is essential for us to accurately follow up during the week. Please give as much information as possible. The form on the table in the green room.

 Our Win:

C - Calming presence. It takes courage for an individual to come forward, so we want to make them feel comfortable by offering a calming presence.

A - Actively listen. We want to listen more than we talk. We also want to be engaged in the listening.

R - Reflect Jesus. No matter what the individual shares with us, we want to always reflect Jesus.

E – Empathize. Let them know you understand and that we are here to support them.
