Summary: This volunteer position involves assisting in meal preparation, serving, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. 

Responsibilities: 

Food Service: 

  • Ensure food safety and hygiene practices are followed at all times. 
  • Help serve meals to guests with a friendly and welcoming attitude. 
  • Assist with portion control to ensure an equitable distribution of food. 

Cleanliness and Organization: 

  • Maintain a clean and sanitized kitchen area throughout the evening. 
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and cookware as needed. 
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment and tools are properly cleaned, stored, and organized. 

Teamwork: 

  • Collaborate with other volunteers, including the Head Chef or Kitchen Coordinator, to ensure smooth operations. 
  • Communicate effectively with fellow volunteers to coordinate tasks and responsibilities. 

Guest Interaction: 

  • Engage with guests in a respectful and friendly manner, promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment. 
  • Provide information about the meal or direct guests to appropriate resources if necessary. 

Qualifications: 

  • Passion for helping others and a commitment to the mission of the church. 
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and follow instructions from the kitchen coordinator. 
  • Basic kitchen skills or a desire to learn, with an emphasis on food safety and hygiene. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy objects. 
  • Respect for diversity and the ability to interact with a wide range of individuals.
