Overview of Staten Island, New York
Staten Island is one of the five boroughs of New York City, in the U.S. state of New York, located in the southwest part of the city. With a population of 468,730, Staten Island is the least populated of the boroughs. Staten Island is largely a Roman Catholic community. It has been cited as one of the most under-evangelized areas in the Northeast.
Purpose of Trip:
Temple will join forces with Crossroads Church to help paint one of the local schools. Crossroads uses service to the community to open doors for gospel conversations as well as developing favor with the local community.
This is a perfect trip for families.
Note: Most evenings will be free. We will participate in worship on Wednesday evening at Crossroads. Also, remember our mission is to serve Crossroads Church. Furthermore, this is a family trip. There will be times when we will be able to enjoy evening activities in Staten Island and Manhattan, as time allows. Days and times for these excursions will be discussed during our orientation time.
Dress
Modesty and comfortable. Shorts are ok (No Daisy Dukes). No tank tops or wife beaters. Men: no bikini Speedos at the pool! Dress appropriate for ministry, not drawing attention to ourselves.
